Baptism
Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
- Acts 2:38
The Sacrament of Baptism is often called "The door to the Church," because it is the first of the seven Sacraments, not only chronologically, but also in priority. The reception of all other Sacraments depends on baptism. It is the first of the three Sacraments of Initiation, Baptism, Confirmation, and Holy Communion. Once baptized, a person becomes a member of the Body of Christ, the Church.
Baptism Preparation for Infants
At Resurrection Parish, baptisms for those under the age of seven takes place a few times a year.
Preparation for parents is required prior to the celebration of the Sacrament. Godparents are welcome to attend the preparation session, but are not required to. Please consider attending your preparation class before the birth of your child.
To have your child baptized at our parish, please contact the parish office at: sacraments@resurrectionparish.ca or call 306-352-8044
Baptism Preparation for Children age 7 and older
At this age, children are at the age of reason and therefore are required to take the preparation class themselves. They are also eligible for confirmation and first Eucharist, so all preparation classes are delivered together.
These preparation classes are part of the RCIA process (Rite of Christian Initiation).
To obtain more information and/or register, please contact the parish office at 306-352-8044 or sacraments@resurrectionparish.ca.
