Children's Liturgy
Our Parish offers Children's Liturgy of the Word to make the children's experience meaningful at their level. Our aim is to help them to grow in the faith of the Catholic Church and encourage their full and active participation as members of our Parish Community.
Children's Liturgy runs from September through to the end of May.
Jr. Children's Liturgy is for children age 4 to grade 2 and is offered at all 3 Mass times on the weekends.
Sr. Children's Liturgy is for children grades 3 and 4 and is offered at the 11:00 a.m. Mass only.
No sign up is needed for children to attend. They may leave the church with the group when invited by the priest before the first reading.
There is one leader and one assistant for each Mass for Jr. Children's Liturgy and a leader and assistant at the 11:00 Mass for Sr. Children's Liturgy. Leaders and assistants must arrive at least 15 minutes before Mass.
Leaders in this ministry do not necessarily have children, but want to help our young people grow in their relationship with Jesus and our Parish Community. Parents, Grandparents and older teens are all welcome to help in this important ministry to the children of our parish.
This ministry involves working in a two person team, preparing for (a guide line is already established) and delivering a lesson for approximately one Children’s Liturgy session per month; participating in the two training sessions (2 hours each, one in the fall and one in the new year) per year.
This ministry is also seeking leaders who would join a coordination team to do the tasks of scheduling, coordinating each of the 3 masses, and the duplication of bulletins and teaching notes on a monthly basis.
Consider:
Do I love working with children?
Am I willing to commit about two hours of preparation time and one mass per month to the children of our parish?
